Morpho+Luna, an italian craftmanship

Renowned for its limited-edition silk homewear collections and refined household linens, the Italian brand Morpho + Luna was founded in 2014 by Cécile Gavazzi Daccó.

How did the Morpho + Luna brand come about?

"I started with a bathrobe and pajamas, guided by a desire to revive the elegance and craftsmanship of the European – and more specifically Italian – tradition of loungewear. I was reading a book about Pannonica, a woman named after a rare butterfly. Fascinated by these creatures, I discovered Morpho, a blue butterfly from South America, as well as the luminous, elusive white moth called Luna. Morpho + Luna reflects this duality: strength and softness, light and shade, the visible and the hidden. Wearing one of our models, at home, just for yourself, becomes an almost private ritual. You feel beautiful without seeking to be seen, and there is something powerfully soothing about that."

What role do traditional craft techniques and expertise play?

"Craftsmanship lies at the heart of Morpho + Luna: that is where beauty truly begins. Italy has extraordinary textile expertise. The dedication, craftsmanship, passion, and creativity of fabric manufacturers are unmatched. It is a privilege to collaborate with them: artisan weavers from Tuscany or the Marches, lace makers from Puglia, dye specialisty, as well as printers such as Mantero, who perpetuate the art of silk printing and share archives of inestimable value.

The essence of Morpho + Luna is to create rare pieces that combine contemporary awareness with ancestral craftsmanship. Each item reflects the meeting of the heart, mind and hand, a story of patience and the quiet beauty of things made with care."

Tell us about your sources of inspiration

"Each season is born from an emotion, an image, a place, a journey, an exhibition... For our 2026 collection, I have been particularly inspired by Mary Delany, an 18th century English artist who created nearly a thousand botanical collages of extraordinary finesse, now preserved at the British Museum. A century before her, Maria Sibylla Merian, a visionary artist and naturalist, observed and painted the transformation of butterflies, combining art and science in a way that was unprecedented for her time. I find the same energy of rebirth and transformation in their works."

What materials do you use?

"Silk holds a special place among natural fibers. It possesses a quiet intelligence, a way of reflecting light and hugging the body that makes it both comforting and refined. It also carries a personal heritage. During the 18th and 19th centuries, in the Valmadrera region near Lake Como, the Gavazzi family helped to promote the Italian silk industry. I wanted to reinterpret this history from a contemporary feminine perspective. Today, the tradition continues with ReSilk®, an upcycled silk developed by Mantero from surplus fibers, transformed into a luxurious new fabric that is as soft and warm as cashmere."

Pyjama La Réserve x Morpho+Luna - 100% Soie

A "La Réserve Paris x Morpho + Luna" limited edition

The "Suite 504" capsule collection celebrates 10 years of La Réserve Paris with one-of-a-kind silk items: a set comprising pajamas, a kimono and a reversible eye mask. It stems from an encounter between two Maisons sharing the same values and spirit. As Cécile Gavazzi Daccó explains: "La Réserve is all about intimacy, beauty and discreet refinement; the sense of serenity and warmth you feel in a place where everything has been designed with exquisite care. For us, it was a natural connection, as Morpha + Luna is based on the same concepts of comfort, discretion and timeless elegance. What I found most touching of all was the authenticity of this collaboration, a true example of co-creation.

Anne-Flore Reybier and I dreamed of bringing together a butterfly, symbol of transformation at Morpho + Luna and a small elephant – the benevolent guardian and emblem of La Réserve." This harmony of elements – lightness and grounding, air and earth – gave rise to our motif evoking a poetic dance between two worlds.
